Make Sure You Offer Good Customer Service

A few weeks ago, I had to make a phone call to a large, well-known institution (this institution shall remain nameless) in order to lodge a complaint regarding bad service that I had received as well as funds that were due to be reimbursed to me but after over 2 months of waiting, still hadn’t arrived! I dialled through to the main switchboard and was immediately put on hold. The call went something like this: Ring ring, “Company Name, good day, please hold”, CLICK. After that I was then forced to wait for 80 seconds (yes, I timed it) before the switchboard operator again graced me with her presence. I needed to speak to a particular manager in the Customer Relations department who I asked for by name, only to be put through to an arbitrary individual in that department. After a further 5 minutes of holding for said-manager, I finally made it through to the all-important man himself. By this time I was seething mad and battling to keep these feelings to myself. The conversation with the manager did not end favourably as I was told, in no uncertain terms - that he had to follow company procedure in dealing with my complaint and that my refund would now only be processed in about 2 to 3 months time.

In this day and age, the way to get your company noticed is to offer outstanding Customer Service. Ensure that customers keep utilising your service by providing trained and professional staff for them to deal with.
