Does anyone know how to write a professional email these days?

Limelight Websites is looking for a new addition to our team. We are looking for a Junior Web Designer to assist us with our ever-expanding stable of websites and have advertised this position in both online and printed form. Because of this, we have had many applications and have seen many CV’s in our Inboxes from individuals ranging in age from 18 to 35. The problem that continues to crop up in many of these applications is the lack of command of the English language. The MXit generation has lost the ability to type full sentences, use punctuation correctly and even use the full version of each word.

We would like to encourage individuals sending official emails to be more professional. If you are interested in finding employment, an email containing your CV is your very first contact with a prospective employer. Make sure you have used a spell-check on your CV as well as your initial email, use full sentences and DON’T type the message in the same way you would a note to your best friend.

A good idea would be to attend a course or workshop in business etiquette or communications – this would certainly stand you in good stead in becoming a more efficient and professional member of the workforce.

Should you be interested in studying Graphic or Web Design, visit our website for courses in this field. If you are interested in sending us your CV and reside in the Durban region, please send a PROFESSIONAL email to
lauren@limelightwebsites.co.za with the subject line “Junior Web Designer Vacancy”.

Have a wonderful weekend.
